Vanilla
Vanilla pods are derived from orchids of the genus Vanilla, primarily from the Mexican species, flat-leaved vanilla. The word vanilla, derived from vainilla, the diminutive of the Spanish word vaina, is translated simply as "little pod”. Today vanilla is used in many premium gins for a smoother end taste. The quantities used in distillation are quite small compared to other botanicals due to its intensity.
They are used in production of the gin as a complimentary botanical to smoothen down the Juniper content and give a round and smooth finish on the tongue.
Vanilla pods are the pod like fruits of a climbing orchid. The pods are quite intense in both flavour and taste.
